FRANKIE COMES AGAIN

Chapter 13: "The Pre-Show"

NOTE:  Originally, this section of my script had two songs in it.  The first, a pre show number sung entirely by Brad and Janet has been removed -- yet mentioned in the story below.  It was a wonderful song, done in three parts.  Brad's part, a rough Rock-N-Roll song called "Tearin' My Heart Up" switched to a disco beat after the second chorus, allowing Janet to sing her section, entirely disco dance, called "Kiss Me, Mr. Valentine."  After Janet's second chorus, Brad and Janet sing their choruses (completely different from each other) at the same time, harmonizing well.  This idea was written and borrowed from a scene in the film "Xanadu."
The second song I have decided to leave in tact.  It is a new version of "The Time Warp."

PREVIOUSLY:  Brad, Janet, and Dr. Scott found themselves in Frank N. Furter's castle, after being zapped up to the planet of Transexual.  The avenging Queen asked them to reveal Frank's secret to life, which they denied any knowledge of.  Queen Andoria announced there would be a public execution in the few hours to come: that of Riff Raff and Magenta, the two people responsible for Frank's death.  What she did not reveal was that the three earthlings would be executed as well...

The camera takes us back to the Criminologist's office, where Helen, the maid, continues her story:
"And so..." she tells us, looking into the camera, "Brad and Janet found themselves in a desperate situation.  The Queen had announced there would be a public execution, in which Brad and Janet would have to perform a pre show.  They were told to sing about their inner feelings.  What feelings could Brad express?  What secrets could Janet tell?  What indeed..."
The camera zooms closer into a full head shot.
She continues, "Whatever is revealed, one thing is for sure: this would be a night to be remembered for a very long time..."
The camera moves towards her mouth on those last words, and zooms INTO her mouth, into the darkness.  The camera pulls back, and we see the "darkness" is now the back of a black jacket, worn by a Transylvanian.
We are no longer in the Criminologist's office.  We are in the ballroom of Frank's castle, where several Transylvanians have gathered.  The ballroom is crowded, with Transylvanians laughing, eating and drinking, and enjoying the party.  They are dressed in black suits, similar to those in the first movie.  Many don party hats.  Several are not in suits at all, as they prefer to wear fishnet, garter and corset.
The camera moves through the crowd up towards the stage area.  The curtain is closed.  The camera moves up the stage stairs, and proceeds left, and around the curtain to the back side.  Between the curtain and the swimming pool, there is a fairly large amount of stage.  Centered on the stage, exactly where Frank's throne had been setting, are two electric chairs.  Three female guards, and one male guard, make final adjustments to the chairs to make sure they are secure and working properly.  The camera moves past the chairs and the guards until they focus on a young woman in the background: Ansalong, who is Columbia's twin sister.
She watches them with a look of sadness on her face.  She mourns her sister's death.  She walks away, and the camera moves around the curtain where we see a panoramic view of the ballroom, as seen from the stage in front of the curtain.
Down the center aisle, the camera takes us, and we exit the double doors into the castle's living room.  Up ahead, we see the door to the control room, which is open.  A Transylvanian, dressed in a black suit, is looking the control room over.  He is alone, as all the guards are at the party.  Upon closer inspection, he looks familiar to us.  It is the one and only Bert Schnick...

Bert Schnick, a happy-go-lucky Transylvanian, looked into the two transport tubes.
"So, this is how the earthlings got here, huh?"
He stepped into one of the tubes and turned to face the control room.  How do these things work? he asked himself, pondering the idea of going to earth, a planet he had always desired to visit.
He exited glass tube, and looked at the control panel.  There he noticed the controls for the transport tubes.
"Ah!" he said, understanding.  "This is easier than I thought.  I think I'll take a little jaunt to earth...see what's happening."
Then he saw a problem: he could not press the buttons from inside the tube.  He would have to convince someone else to do it for him.
"I know just who..." he said, and he started to head for the door.  Suddenly he stopped, having noticed something unusual.  There in the corner of the room was Frank's throne.
"What is this?" he asked himself with a selfish smile, approaching it.  His fingers touched the silver backrest of the throne.
"I wonder if this is real silver?"
He looked at the chair, then over to the transport tubes, then back to the chair.
Bert debated on whether to steal the chair or not.  As a child, he was always spoiled.  His mother gave him anything he wished for upon asking.  That is, until she died when he was 16 years of age.  Her death was the start of his selfish desire to have everything he ever wanted even if he had to steal it.  At first, the items were small and frivolous, and taking them provided a dangerous satisfaction to any 16-year old boy.  But as he grew up, his lifestyle became more flamboyant, and the desire for more costly items was more evident.  Being an actor to those who admired him later on in life, it was easy for him to scam his way out of any accusations -- so he had never been caught.  Bert stood there, staring at the throne, admiring its beauty ... and its value.
"Well, if this is worth anything, I'm certainly not going to leave it behind."
With some struggle, Bert dragged the chair and sat it inside one of the large glass transport tubes.  It barely fit, but in the end, it did.
"Hmm," he said, thinking things over, "That was easy.  I wonder if there's anything else of value here that I can take to earth with me..."
He looked around the control room, and found nothing of interest.  He carefully stepped out of the room and looked around.  There, near the grandfather clock, hung a painting.   Someone had given the painting a name, earlier, and he believed it was called "American Gothic."
Bert removed the painting off the wall, and carried it into the control room, where he sat it carefully on Frank's throne, inside one of the glass tubes.
"Now, I've got to find someone willing to press the buttons."

Inside the ballroom, the dance music was blaring, and Transylvanians were dancing.  Suddenly the song that had been playing ended, and a familiar instrumental dance song began playing.  The Transylvanians smiled, recognizing it.  It was the Time Warp.  Everyone was excited!
Through the double doors entered the Queen.  She was escorted by two guards, one of each gender.
As she entered the doors, Ansalong exited them, being yanked by Bert Schnick.  Nobody seemed to notice: they were admiring Queen Andoria, and enjoying the song.

QUEEN: (singing)
Everybody -- just start dancing
Let madness -- take its toll
The party is startin' -- The music is hoppin'
I'm now in -- full control
Let's remember -- Frank N Furter
And what he -- meant to me
There's resolution -- in execution!

EVERYONE:
Let's Do The Time Warp Again!
Let's Do The Time Warp Again!

HELEN, THE MAID: (On earth, singing)
It's just a jump to the left

EVERYONE:
And then a step to the right

MAID:
With your hands on your hips

EVERYONE:
You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's Do The Time Warp Again!
Let's Do The Time Warp Again!

Behind the curtains, Riff Raff and Magenta have just been strapped into the electric chairs.

RIFF RAFF:
Can't you see me?  Somebody please free me
I've got to -- get away
To another dimension -- away from this tension
There's got to -- be a way

MAGENTA:
Mother will free us -- If only she could see us
She'd come and -- break these chains

RIFF RAFF:
The madness is calling -- Our end is approaching

EVERYONE:
Let's Do The Time Warp Again!
Let's Do The Time Warp Again!

Back in the control room, Ansalong stood at the control panel, watching as Bert Schnick stepped into the empty transport tube -- the other of which contain the throne and painting.  She looked down at the control panel and saw the label which read "Destination."  She turned the dial until "Earth" appeared on the panel.  In the "map" field next to the dial, a digital image of the earth turning displayed.  She moveed her fingertip, placing it on Europe.  The destination was now set.

ANSALONG:
Well I was hoping for revenge
But now here in the end
What can I lose? What can I win?
Well it shook me up when I heard that she had died
And then I lost control and then I cried
Then it occurred to me as I stand here now
Life means nothing, never will again.

Ansalong presses the button, and Bert Schnick vanishes, as does the throne and painting.
Back in the ballroom, the Transylvanians sing the last chorus of "The Time Warp" and collapse onto the floor as the song comes to an end.
"And now," Queen Andoria shouted to the group, "Please stand up, everyone.  I have a little show before the execution!"
The music starts, and the curtains open.  Centered on stage are the electric chairs, Riff Raff and Magenta strapped inside them.  Appearing from stage left, comes Brad.  He is dressed in a black leather corset, fishnets and pumps.  He also wears face paint.  He hears the music and addresses the crowd in a song.  It reveals how you should always be honest with yourself and to the people you love and care about.
Halfway into the song, Janet emerges, stage right, dressed in a white leather corset, fishnet and pumps.  Brad looks at her in awe.  She looks beautiful.  To a disco beat, she tells the audience about how she misses the touch of Frankie, and how he forever changed her life.
Brad looked at Janet with hurt.  Yet at the same time, he knew how she felt.  Something inside him made him realize that the biggest secret he kept was how he enjoyed his sexual liberation that night one year ago.  As Janet ended her second chorus of song, he smiled and nodded at her, understanding.  Then suddenly they held hands and danced together, singing at the same time.
When the song came to an end, they found themselves in an embrace, kissing each other.  When they pulled apart, they turned to look at Riff Raff and Magenta, bound in their chairs.
"Dr. Scott," Brad mumbled, remembering the escape plan.
Janet looked to the double doors, "I hope he succeeds."

Dr. Scott wheeled his wheelchair into the control room, expecting it to be empty.  To his surprise, a young woman, who looked an awful lot like Columbia (from a year before) was in there, staring at the control panel.  She didn't seem to notice him.  She had her back to him, and she was crying.
Dr. Scott scooted closer and closer.  She still did not hear him.  He wheeled closer...
Suddenly she turned around, and she gasped, startled.
"What are you doing here?  Who are you?"
"I'm Dr. Everett Scott...from Earth.  Tell me, young lady.  Why do you cry?"
Ansalong wiped her tears and answered, "My sister, Columbia.  She's dead."
"I know," Dr. Scott said, "I was there.  Your sister was very kind."
She didn't know why, but Ansalong found herself hugging Dr. Scott, weeping helplessly into his shoulder.  "Tell me, Dr. Scott.  Tell me about when she was killed."
She pulled back and listened to Dr. Scott retell the events of the evening, as he remembered.  Afterwards, he concluded by saying, "So you see, your sister's death was merely an accident.  She had startled Riff Raff and Magenta by a sudden scream."
Ansalong responded by saying, "That's what I thought.  I had heard that rumor but didn't know if it were true.  If it was an accident, then I shouldn't seek revenge on Riff Raff and Magenta."
Dr. Scott shook his head in agreement.
Then Ansalong added, "But that makes it even more difficult.  This entire place gives me memories of my dear sister.  I want out of this place.  I never want to come back."
Dr. Scott patted her shoulder in comfort, saying, "Running away doesn't make it any easier."
"Please," she begged him, "Transport me to earth to get away from this awful place."
"Are you sure?  There's no turning back."
Ansalong thought about it and answered, "Yeah, I'm sure."
She stood up and stepped into one of the empty glass tubes.  She turned to face him and asked, "Do you know how to work it?"
Dr. Scott looked down at the words "Destination: Earth -- Europe" and then answered her, "Yes, I do."
"Thank you," she mouthed to Dr. Scott, "Thank you."
    ZAPPPPPPP!
With the press of a button, Ansalong vanished.
"Now," Dr. Scott said, straightening up in his wheelchair, "Back to business..."

Back in the ballroom, everyone applauded when Brad and Janet ended their song and kissed.  Then the Queen interrupted, "Now, everyone, it's time for the execution of Riff Raff and Magenta."
Strapped in the chairs, Riff Raff and Magenta gave a nervous look to each other, and then back to the Queen.

IN CHAPTER 14:  Dr. Scott puts the escape plan in motion.  Do the earthlings escape?  Do Riff Raff and Magenta get executed?  If not, how can they get away?  These questions will be answered...
